University of Michigan

The University of Michigan is situated in the Ann Arbor, Michigan in the United States. It was founded in 1817 in Detroit as the University of Michigan, twenty years before the Michigan territory officially became the state. The University is known to be the oldest one in the state of Michigan. The University has the largest number of living alumni around five lakhs by 2012. The athletic program in the University is a great success in ice hockey and football. They participate in the NCCA's football Bowl Subdivision and in the Big Ten Conference .The University's campus is divided into 4 campuses and has 500 buildings in it. It has a total area of 31 million square feet.

There are totally thirteen undergraduate schools and colleges within the University. The University is generally a large, with four year program, research institute accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The four year program for the undergraduate consists of arts, sciences and professions. There is a high level correlation between the graduate and undergraduate program. Notably, the University provides financial help in the form of loans, grants, scholarships. Almost 77% of the undergraduates received scholarship in 2007. The University also showcases many community service organization and charitable projects. Education in USA is highly regarded and so is this university.
