Columbia University, New York

Columbia University in the City of New York, usually referred to as the Columbia University is located in New York City, New York, United States. The University is one of the country's nine Colonial Colleges founded before the American Revolution. Education in US is highly traditional specifically when studying in Universities like the Columbia University, the oldest institution of higher learning in the state of New York and the fifth oldest in the country. The University was founded by the Royal charter of George II of Britain as King's college in the year 1754. Later it became an entity and was renamed as the Columbia University. This university has affiliated more number of Nobel Laureates than any other institution in the world. The University was one of the fourteen founding members of the Association of American Universities and was the first institution in United States to grant a M.D degree. The acceptance rate of the school is 6.90% which makes the college to be the second most selective college in the United States. By the year 2010, the student population of the University was 27,606 with 35% of them to be minority and 23% were from out of the country.
