Universities in United Kingdom

Universities in the United Kingdom generally require having an approval of the Privy Council and only such bodies can award degrees in any principle. They are divided into these major categories which are - ancient universities, London Durham and Wales, Red Brick universities, Open University, Plate Glass universities and the New universities.

The majority of these universities are funded by the national government. The universities here have good international reputation due to their history and research yield. Some universities provide accommodation throughout the duration of the course.

Otherwise students prefer institutions nearer to their homes so that both the cost of travelling and the time spent for it reduces.

Admissions to such domestic institutions have increased after university fees have been introduced which need to be paid by students. As practiced in other nations, the name of the institution is also placed beside the academic qualification and the name of the student. University of London and Oxford University is mostly preferred by Students.
