University of Canterbury

The University of Canterbury was established by some scholars from the University of Oxford in the year 1873. This university is the second oldest university in New Zealand and operates its major campus in the suburb of IIam in the city of Christchurch, New Zealand. Study in New Zealand is preferred by most of the international students.

This university provides degrees in Commerce, Arts, Forestry, Fine Arts, Engineering, Law, Social Work, Music, Education, Speech and Language Therapy, Sports Coaching, Science, and Teaching. This university has 5 libraries with the Central Library present in James Hight Building, the tallest building on campus. The College of Education of this university upholds extra small campuses Tauranga, Nelson and Timaru and teaching centres in New Plymouth, Greymouth, Timaru and Rotorua. This university has staff in regional information offices in Timaru, Nelson and Auckland.

This university has 6 halls of residence that can house around 1800 students; the largest of these are the IIam Apartments and University Hall that can accommodate 850 and 550 residents, respectively. A subsidiary of Campus Living Villages, the UC Accommodation is managing three of these halls namely, IIam Apartments, Sonoda Christchurch Campus and University Hall. The university maintains ownership of the property and buildings.
