Transport in New Zealand

There was a survey conducted in the year 2000 which stated that nearly one third had utilized domestic air services in New Zealand. Coach tours and rental cars were used by one quarter of the users each separately.

Private car and ferry transport were considered to be the 4th and 5th most common transport means at the forefront of bus and trains. Rental car was said to be preferred transport method for the visitors who came from Australia in that particular year which actually accounted 30%.

The domestic air travel which accounted to 18% was the next preferred transport method while 17% people preferred private car to travel to New Zealand. Visitors from Canada and the UK are said to prefer private cars, ferries and rental cars mostly.

The private cars became popular in Australia and this popularity caused more number of people to use it as a transport medium to travel to New Zealand.
