Tourism in New Zealand

New Zealand is considered to be a top holiday destination and it has also been awarded by the Conde Nast Traveler magazine readers for being one such great destination in the year 2008.

New Zealand was also awarded for being the best overseas holiday destination by a poll conducted by The Daily Telegraph in the year 2007.

Ever since the advertising campaign was launched in the year 2000 by the Tourism department of New Zealand, it is said that the number of Britons visiting New Zealand has increased more in number.

The tourists of the country cover large distance travels and they use coach lines or might also hire cars. Domestic tourism has also gained more importance in New Zealand wherein its expenditure of $13 billion is said to have overshadowed the international tourist expenditure of $9 billion in the year 2010.

The tourism industry has supported over 180,000 jobs that constitutes to 10% of the workforce of the country wherein half of them directly associated with tourism.
