University of Western Ontario

The University of Western Ontario is situated in London, Ontario, Canada. The main campus of this public research university covers 455 hectares of land, along with the Thames River that cuts via the eastern portion of the main campus. Most of the campus is surrounded by residential neighborhoods. Western Road is the chief transportation artery of this university that goes from north to south.

This university directs various range of academic programs between 12 faculties, professional schools and 3 affiliated university colleges.

This university was established as the Western University of London Ontario, a denominational school of the Church of England by the Anglican Diocese of Huron and Bishop Isaac Hellmuth. This university turned out to be secular in the year 1908 and was then renamed "The University of Western Ontario" in the year 1923.

This university has more than 23000 undergraduate and over 5000 graduate students. Over 220000 alumni and previous students of this university can be found in more than 100 countries around the world. This university athletic team is called as the Western Mustangs, and is the member of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport.
