Transport in Australia

There are various forms of transport in Australia wherein roadways, railways, airways, waterways are the major forms of transport within the country.

Australia is said to possess the 2nd highest level of car ownership in the whole world. It is supposed to consist of 3 to 4 times more road per capital when compared to Europe and 7 – 9 times when compared to the whole of Asia.

This country is also considered to possess the 3rd highest per capita rate of consumption of fuel in the whole world. Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth are rated among the most car dependent cities in the world, after which comes Sydney and Melbourne.

The distance travelled by using a car is said to be the highest in the world. The intercity rail transport is also being widely used by most people in Australia.

People use the public transport mostly due to the rise of petrol price and also due to the traffic congestion.
